The LLB (Hons) Law program is a comprehensive and rigorous degree designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the legal system. This course offers students a thorough grounding in the principles of law, including areas such as criminal law, constitutional law, property law, and international law. Students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills, learning to apply legal theories to real-world scenarios.

  1. Foundations of Law: An introduction to the essential elements of law, including its history, structure, and the role it plays in society.
  2. Criminal Law: Examination of the legal framework governing crimes and their consequences, focusing on legal definitions, defenses, and the criminal justice system.
  3. Constitutional and Administrative Law: Exploration of the principles and practices of constitutional law, human rights, and the functioning of government.
  4. Contract Law: A detailed study of contract formation, terms, breaches, and remedies, providing a solid foundation in commercial law.
  5. Tort Law: Covers civil wrongs, including negligence, defamation, and liability issues, with an emphasis on case law and legal reasoning.
  6. Property Law: Understanding the legal dimensions of property ownership, land use, and real estate transactions.
  7. Legal Research and Writing: Developing skills in legal research methodologies and effective legal writing, essential for law professionals.
  8. Mooting and Advocacy: Practical training in court-like settings to develop argumentation, presentation, and advocacy skills.

Throughout the course, students will engage in critical discussions, case studies, and moot court exercises. The program is designed to not only impart legal knowledge but also to hone the skills necessary for a successful career in law, including problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and effective communication. Graduates of this program are well-prepared for legal practice, further studies, or careers in various sectors requiring legal expertise.

Entry requirements:

  • A minimum of grades CCC in three A levels (or a minimum of 96 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification, eg BTEC National, OCR Diploma or Advanced Diploma)
  • English Language GCSE at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent)

English language requirements

  • IELTS Overall score required 6.0, and minimum 5.5 in each component
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with minimum 59 in each component
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced, formerly Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) – grade C and above
  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency, formerly Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) – grade C and above
  • LanguageCert International ESOL Exam B2 LRWS with minimum 33 in each component
  • TOEFL Overall score required 72, inlcuding Listening: 17, Reading: 18, Writing: 17, Speaking: 20
